The Armour That Protects

A Knight understands that his most important equipment is himself. Therefore a wise Knight protects himself with the best armour he can find. By extension, then, it is also important to protect that armour. It would be a pity for it to get all rusty, or get stolen or lost, leaving the Knight vulnerable to attacks. Which is why we have enlisted the help of a clan Treasurer, to protect our equipment and investments.

Sir William de Ros, Chancellor of the Exchequer

Hailing from Helmsley, Yorkshire, Sir William, Lord Ros, (b. 1368) brings with him a wealth of experience in this role, having previously served as Treasurer of England. He is determined to see his efforts result in greater satisfaction and greater profit, as well as greater item availability.

Ye Treasury

Lord Ros manages the Storm Treasury (the Treasury). Basically, his inventory serves to replace the antiquated and inferior clan stash. Clan members donate items and meat not to the stash, but rather to Lord Ros. When Lord Ros recieves a donation, he carefully records the real value of all items and meat donated, and adds that amount to the donor's credit. Members can use their credit to request items, or simply get their credit paid back as meat. This is superior to the stash because members get credit equivalent to the actual market value of the items donated, not the autosell value, which many times does not reflect an item's real value.

Ye Fund

Sir William also maintains the Storm Fund, set aside in the Uggh Repository (his display case). The Storm Fund is used for funding clan contest rewards, the purchase of rare items for trophies for clan members, and any other special clan purposes. Members can donate directly to the Fund by sending meat in the form of meat stacks or dense meat stacks. Meat stacks are all placed directly in the Fund, and members still recieve credit.

Selling Your Items to the Treasury

Members can also autosell items for actual market value, eliminating the need for personal stores. Simply include the word "sell" with your donation and Sir William will pay you the value of your items.* Any meat included in the donation is still considered a donation, but items sold through the Treasurer will not contribute to your credit.

Be aware that any message containing the word "sell" will cause Lord Ros to reimburse you for your items. Even if you write "Don't sell these!" or "I'd like these to be unsellable", Sir William will see the word "sell" and pay you for the items rather than increasing your credit.

Requesting Items -- Just What the Apothecary Ordered

Members may also request items. Simply send Lord Ros a message saying "request 3 turtle totem" and you will promptly be sent 3 turtle totems. Send him a message saying "request 2 turtle totem, 3 saucepan, 5 ten-leaf clover" and you will be sent all of those items. The actual market value of the items will be deducted from your credit. No service fee applies to item requests.

Requesting Guidelines

Common Questions, Answered

How does Sir William calculate the value of items?
The formula is a carefully guarded trade secret. However, we can tell you it entails an analysis of the average market value over the last 30 days, weighted toward today.

What if he can't find the price?
He will return any items of unknown value.

What if he doesn't have enough money to pay me for a "sell" request?
If the Treasury lacks the funds to compensate you, all the items you requested sold will be returned.

What is "England"?
We're not sure either.

Why don't I get full value for sell requests?
The Treasurer exacts a 5% service fee for all meat requests.

Can I autosell items and request items in the same message?
Certainly. The Treasurer will sell all donated items in the message if it contains "sell", and he will treat everything after the word "request" as an item request. So even something like "Hi Sir William! I'd like to sell these items. I'd also like to request 6 goat cheese" would work, although "sell request 6 goat cheese" would be just as effective.
