Boston pianos are really quite lovely. I always thought they were just a cheap Steinway (like Acuras are just expensive Hondas), but I recently found out that they are actually made for Steinway by Kawai! I found that interesting, because I really like Bostons but I don't care much for Kawais.
As I am fulfilling the American dream, an important step will be the purchase of a Boston grand piano.
An important influence that loved Bostons:
Bobby Peterson - one of the best jazz pianists in the Twin Cities, who passed away unexpectedly in June of 2002. He taught my jazz workshop for a while, and greatly encouraged me to keep pursuing jazz piano. He picked out a Boston for The Artist's Quarter, a great jazz club in St. Paul.
