Astor Piazzolla is my hero. I love his music. I can't get enough of it. He is known most as the composer and arranger, but he also played bandoneon (which is something like an accordion except not really). He created a style now labeled nuevo tango, and it's just brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Mostly drawing from Argentine tango, his music is somewhat atonal, but not really, and he could get all kinds of great sounds and textures from every instrument, and the arrangements all fit together like a glove. It's gorgeous, I tell you. It stirs me, excites me, moves me... this music has become mine.
