At over 14 minutes long, this romantic theme and variations for piano is Zach's longest composition. The theme travels through at least four variations, each with their own development section and reinstatement. Each variation is connected to the next with thematic transitional material, to make the song feel like a unified single piece instead of a disjointed conglomerate of variations. The theme returns at the end to remind us of the original before ending gracefully.
