Apparantly capoeiristas love that movie too, kind of the same way I like pugs. They said the actual performance of Capoeira was pretty bad (for instance, the singer's Portuguese was noticeably non-native) -- like they were actors who learned it just for the movie -- but it has a soft spot in their hearts as one of the only media examples of Capoeira.

And I totally did stick fighting with my neighbor. With the sisters I played with My Little Ponies.

I'm out of commission for a few days, and you ... You go on a blogging rampage! I've got some catching up to do.

Believe it or not, I already knew what Capoeira is. This is attributable to my brother, who used to love a movie -- the title of which I can't recall -- about Capoeira.

Never mind, I Googled it. The movie was called ONLY THE STRONG.

Anyway, he used to subject me to this film over and over again, and then he'd sometimes go outside and mimic Capoeira moves in the backyard. And then I would sometimes hit him with a stick, at which point we would take up sticks and trash can lids and commence beating the hell out of each other. Oh, such good times were had in the backyard ... With two sisters, did you ever get the stick fighting, or just the cookies?
